Corral Nocturne by Elisabeth Grace
Foley was such a sweet book, I enjoyed it a lot!
In a lovely western setting with a subtle Cinderella theme, a story unfolds of a
quiet, overlooked girl named Ellie and the handsome son, Cole, of the
wealthiest rancher in the area. Summer brings about a fairytale-ish romance,
but small trials and mean-spirited whispers are at work to keep this love story
from coming to full bloom …
This really was just a sigh-worthy little
tale. Short and sweet with charming feel and lovely writing style. I enjoyed
Ellie Strickland and Cole Newcomb. Wonderful characters both. I like how Ellie
is intelligent, yet innocently sweet and a bit shy. And Cole is such a
self-assured yet kind and thoughtful young man! Ed was terribly unpleasant most
of the time, and I say, it was quite satisfying, what he got at the end! *mischievous
grin* The McGregors were quite fun and a little bit laughable. They kind of
made me picture Ma and Pa Kettle and their bunch (if you’ve watched those
movies).
The romance of Corral Nocturne … *dreamy sigh*. It was just so cute! Talk about an
old-fashioned, summer-day kind of swoony romance. It was beautiful. I liked it
so very much. Oh, and a note on that, it was refreshingly “clean”. Just a
gentle, sweet romance; no inappropriate or heated scenes.
Ooh, and I just loved the details of the
dresses and such! So much fun. I adore historical and fashion through the eras;
so yes, that was delightful reading.
I noticed that one reviewer of Corral Nocturne said that Elisabeth
Grace Foley’s writing style had a L.M. Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables feel. I quite agree. Whimsical and sweet. This
book definitely made me think of L.M. Montgomery’s books; which I happen to
quite like! *smiles*
Overall, Corral Nocturne was an adorable short story, and I really liked it!
Even sighed happily at the end. Looking forward to reading more by Elisabeth
Grace Foley!
I received a copy of Corral Nocturne from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Sounds like a really sweet read. I'm not sure if I bought a copy or not... but if not, then I must. :)
