Fantasy Love February: My TBR List

Hey, my friends! I'm going to be part of the Fantasy Love February Reading Challenge, which Grace @ Fictionally started! Check it out! It's sure to be lots of fun; and there's giveaways involved! *smiles*

Today, as a mini challenge, I'm going to share my fantasy/fairytale TBR list for this month! So here we go!

Defy {THE BLADES OF ACKTAR #3} by Tricia Mingerink
~ This one doesn't have a cover yet ... I'm beta-reading it. And I'm super excited!!!! ~

Entwined by Heather Dixon
~ This is a retelling of the fairytale, The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I read it awhile ago, and really want to re-read it! So why not during fantasy month?? *grins* ~

A Cast of Stones {THE STAFF AND THE SWORD #1} by Patrick W. Carr
~ I've heard this one is really good, so I want to give it a try! I have it on my kindle. ~

The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan
~ Have this one on my bookshelf ... so beautiful, and just waiting to be read! *smiles* ~

Darkness Reigns {THE KINSMAN CHRONICLES #1.1} by Jill Williamson
~ Really want to read more by Jill, so this is perfect! ~

Pendragon's Heir by Suzannah Rowntree
~ Have this one on my kindle, and it sounds really good! ~

Merlin's Blade {THE MERLIN SPIRAL #1} by Robert Treskillard
~ Seen some good reviews on this one, and it sound intriguing! ~

Second Son {THE MINSTREL'S SONG #2} by Jenelle Leanne Schmidt

Yorien's Hand {THE MINSTREL'S SONG #3} by Jenelle Leanne Schmidt
~ Read the first book of this series, and would like to finish it! ~

So we'll see if I can get to all of those! I read 15 books last month, but I'm hesitant to put too much pressure on myself this month. (It's shorter, after all! Haha). And I'm busy editing Silver Rose ... and working on book videos! If you hadn't noticed, I'm now on Youtube! Shantelle & Books, and I have four videos up! Such fun! ^_^ Come discuss books with me!

Anyway, that's my tentative to-be-read list for February! What are you reading this month?

  1. Very cool list! I've read some of them ("Pilgrim's Progress" and "A Cast of Stones"), and all the others are on my TBR, like Jill Willamson's newest since I loved "The Blood of Kings" trilogy, and Jenelle Schmidt's because I liked her story in "Five Enchanted Roses."
Thank you so much for participating! I hope it will be a fun time. :-D

  2. Love Pilgrim's Progress! Jenelle Schmidt's books are on my TBR list (not for this month, though) as well. I'm interested to hear what you think of Pendragon's Heir and A Cast of Stones; I have both on my Kindle, too.

For fiction this month, I'm finishing up George MacDonald's The Curate's Awakening and trying a new Robin Lee Hatcher novel -- I recently read A Promise Kept by her and really enjoyed it. :-)

    Happy reading!

    1. I'm excited to read it!! And my addition has these beautiful pictures that just make me love it all the more! :) Yes, I can't wait to read them! Both sound wonderful! Jenelle's first book (King's Warrior), wasn't my absolute favorite, but I'm excited for the next two!

I've never heard of The Curate's Awakening; what is it about? I've enjoyed quite a few of books by Robin Lee Hatcher! I hope you enjoy more by her! :)

Happy reading to you too, Alicia! ^_^

    1. Yay, I hope you will join, Deborah!! ^_^ 'Cause who doesn't want to read only fantasy for a month? ;)

Me too!!! I'm so, so excited to re-read Entwined! Eep! Someday soon, hopefully!

Yes, you've told me good things about Merlin's Blade, so I'm looking forward to trying it! Also Yorien's Hand! And I'll definitely let you know what I think about the others!! I would rather ... but since #1.1 is free on kindle, I was like ... Well ... haha. We'll see if I get around to reading it!

Thank you!! ^_^ It is fun to watch things on youtube, especially if they're about books! :D

Wahoo! Hope you read lots of fantastic fantasy! :D And fairytale!! Yay!!! :) :)

^_^ It's going fairly well! I'm doing some re-writing, which is HARD! But things are smoothing out a bit, and I'm satisfied for the time being! :p Hopefully I'll find the motivation to work on it some more today! :)

  7. The Minsterl's song is definitely on my TBR list! I hadn't heard of Merlin's Blade but the cover looks cool. Is it a retelling of the Merlin we know, or a completely different story and plot altogether?

    1. Yes, I'm excited to read books 2 and 3!! :)

It does look interesting, doesn't it? Um ... I don't know the story of Merlin real well, but I believe it's a bit different. Here's the story description from Goodreads:

      A strange meteorite.
      A deadly enchantment.
And only Merlin can destroy it.

A meteorite brings a mysterious black stone whose sinister power ensnares everyone except Merlin, the blind son of a swordsmith. Soon, all of Britain will be under its power, and he must destroy the stone—or die trying.

MERLIN'S BLADE won the 2014 Silver Moonbeam Award in the YA Fantasy/Sci-Fi category, as well as the 2013 Grace Award.
